2018 International Day of Persons with Disabilities Commemorations -IDPD
Zambia joined the international community in commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on 3rd December, 2018, under the theme “Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality”.
The observance focuses on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all developmental and empowerment activities in an equitable and sustainable basis as envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development pledging to “Leave No One Behind.”
The main event was held at Olympic Youth Development Center (OYDC) in lusaka, in presence was the Guest of Honour Minister of Community Development and Social Services – Honorable Olipa Mwansa Phiri, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries – Dr Shamulenge, ZAPD Acting Director General – Ms Julien Mwape , ZAPD Board Members – Mr Hamanyanga, & Ms Josephine Shinaka, United Nations representatives and Government Officials.
Entertainment was done by various groups such as Amayenge, Home of Happiness, Cheshire Homes, Nomakanji-Theartre, Deaf Group, Zamwila Sounds, Simukoko and not forgetting a young boy who danced to Amayenge tune.
The Director of Ceremonies was himself Hebert Mutabi and the vote of thanks was given by Mr James Kapembwe
The Commemoration of this event also took part in the following 10 provinces led and organized by ZAPD Provincial Coordinators.
